| Black Stars captain John Mensah says they are not underrating the Malawians ahead of next month’s Cup of nation’s first leg qualifier next month.
The Stars will play the first leg at home between the weekend of September 7-9 and the return leg in Blantyre between October 12-14. Ghana drew a bye from the previous qualifying round after playing at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. The Flames of Malawi eliminated Chad 4-3 on aggregate in the second qualifying round.

| Black Stars captain John Mensah is beside himself with worry as a result of the unfortunate injury situation that has hit his colleague Sulley Muntari.
Consequently, Mensah has sent a goodwill message to the AC Milan midfielder who injured his knee last Monday in a friendly game at East Legon in Accra.
“It is unfortunate Sulley had to stay away for six months as stated by his team’s medical team. I on my own behalf and on behalf of the entire Black Stars and the FA wish him well.
“I pray he returns to the pitch sooner than expected. Injury is part of the game. Get well soon, we are praying with you,” he told johntherock5.com.
Meanwhile, Mensah was among the many football persons that thronged the Aviation Park in Madina, Accra to mark the late FA Vice president Jordan Anagblah’s one week commemoration this morning.
In his solidarity speech, the Lyon defender noted “He was like a father figure and assertive fellow to us the players, we will surely miss him. Ghana has lost a great football personality, and we shall forever remember him.” |
