Top Ghanaian defender John Mensah has expressed his shock over Lyon coach Claude Puel’s public comments that he wants to offload him while privately telling him the opposite. Mensah was in action for Lyon for the full 90 minutes when Lyon played FC Porto in a Peace Cup match in Spain last Monday. MENSAH STARS FOR LYON IN SPAIN
Ghanaian international, John Mensah was in action for his French club, Olympique Lyonnais, during a cup match against Turkish side Besiktas which ended in a 1–1 draw last Saturday. Kim Kallstom opened the scoring for Lyon on the 69th minute, but their joy was shortlived when the Turkish side levelled up on the 85th minute with a Nobre header from a corner.

On the 21st of July 2008, John the “Rock of Gibraltar” Mensah completed his €8.4m move from Stade Rennais to Olympique Lyon, becoming the third Ghanaian footballer to play for the French Ligue 1 outfit after Abedi Pele and Michael Essien. Deputy Ghana Black Stars captain, John Mensah, last Saturday donated items worth GH¢ 7,500 to the Abdulam Orphanage at Obuasi as part of his social responsibility towards the society.
